Kids Shows & Events Descriptions

"Marvels of Motion"

Come one, come all… to the Mad Science Physics Olympics! This interactive event is all about the fun-damentals of moving science including Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion and all sorts of surprises including dancing, chemically assisted football tossing, and even amazing "space-age" rocket packs. Children will have a chance to compete in wacky events , while the mad scientists prepare to unveil their top-secret motion machine. Come and discover the science behind some of your favorite Olympic sports and find out why this show is such a “blast!”

"Fire and Ice"

This 45-minute presentation is designed to introduce science to elementary age children. In it, the Mad Scientist will use simple but exciting science experiments and demonstrations to involve your group in the discovery process of science. They will learn how to make a 'scientific hypothesis' and how to test that hypothesis using 'experimentation'. Included in the event will be experiments involving air pressure, flash paper, Eggbert, Bernoulli's Principle and dry ice. There will also be some opportunity for members of the audience to participate in a few of the experiments. The event is very visual and works well in front of any size crowd.

"Wacky Science"

This 45-minute special event features several different aspects of science. The audience will learn what a polymer is and will get to watch a brave volunteer make a giant batch of Slime with their bare hands! They will also be amazed as the Mad Scientist uses science to melt the 'Wicked Witch of the West' right before their eyes. Next, the children will learn about static electricity from demonstrations with a Van der Graaf generator. One of the victims...er…children will even get to touch the Van der Graaf for a 'hair raising' experience. We round off the event with our exciting Dry Ice demonstrations. This show works very well in almost any sized auditorium.

"Up, Up and Away"

This 45-minute presentation is geared toward theaters and large school groups in an auditorium setting. A larger and flashier show than the 'Standard' show, this event will capture the audiences' interest and show how exciting science can be. Included in the show are a variety of eye-popping demonstrations and experiments. There will be plenty of opportunity for hands-on audience participation in this event. Some of the topics and demonstrations include the three states of matter, air pressure (using the Magdeburg Sphere), a Hot Air Balloon, the Mad Science Hovercraft, a giant size vortex generator and finally the Big Sneeze demonstration. This show is very visually exciting, has lots of audience participation and works very well for medium to large size audiences. Watch the short video! >>

"Spin, Pop, Boom"

In this 45-minute presentation, the Mad Scientist will use simple but exciting science experiments and demonstrations to involve your group in the discovery process of science. Included in the event will be such experiments as the "Famous, Flaming Didgeridoo" and the "Fantastic Flying Foam Factory". There will also be some audience participation. Spectacular experiments spark the children's curiosity and highlight the very best of Mad Science.

"Halloween" Special Event

Are you looking for the perfect touch of spookiness for your Halloween event this year?  Our Mad Science Halloween Special Event is just the thing.  Our 45-minute presentation will have your audience gasping and laughing at the Mad Scientist’s peculiar and chilling science experiments.  Through a mixture of science and magic the children will see a paper spider turn into a ‘real-live’ spider.  Hear the tales of Count Eggbert and Countess Eggberta as they battle the wicked witch.  Watch as the wicked witch is melted right before your eyes!  The audience will find out how the seemingly sane Mr. Bernoulli helped the Mad Scientist float an eyeball in the air.  Then, as a grand finale, the Mad Scientist will introduce the audience to the eerie world of Dry Ice, making bubbling potions and lots of fearsome fog.  All will have an evening of gruesome goodness and fun!

"Winter Holiday" Special Event

Are you looking for the perfect touch of winter fun to add to your holiday event?  Our Mad Science Winter Holiday Special Event is just the thing.  Our 45-minute presentation will have your audience gasping and laughing at the Mad Scientist’s exciting and merry science experiments.  Through a mixture of science and magic the children will see a playing card vanish only to reappear again neatly gift-wrapped!  Kids will hear how Eggbert became Santa’s helper and will help the Mad Scientist get Eggbert through a chimney using science.  Watch as our special Snowman is de-frosted right before their eyes!  The audience will also discover how Jack Frost can fill an eight-foot air bag with one breath.  Then, as a grand finale, the Mad Scientist will introduce the audience to a mysterious North Pole rock that turns out to be Dry Ice.  Using the Dry Ice, the Mad Scientist will make bubbling potions, popping corks, shivering quarters and clouds of fog.  All will have an evening of giddy goodness and festive fun!

“Sounds Like Science” - Preschool Show

"Sounds Like Science is our newest Special Event addition and is perfect for your preschool audience. This 40-minute show highlights the sense of sound. Through a combination of demonstrations and audience participation we bring the science of sound to your children.  Among the experiments the students will witness how sound waves travel using both the audience and a Slinky.  They'll participate in creating a rainstorm complete with rain, thunder and lighting.  And for a finale we'll get to hear the quack of Quacker the Duck, the growl of Terry the Tiger and the roar of Rex the T-Rex. A very fun and preschool friendly show.

Offers a great opportunity to tobacco-proof children in a fun and interactive way, and leaves a lasting impression. Pre and post activities can easily be used for language arts, math and social studies extensions.

Is this a recognized program?
Be Tobacco Free is a fully adapted program that meets National Science Education Standards. Mad Science is also a proud member of AAAS, NAEYC and NSTA.

Mad Science Booths

Slime

The Mad Science Slime Booth concentrates on Polymers. Polymers are long chains of molecules. Like clay, putty, rubber bands, your skin and even the waistband of your underwear! Children will make and take home some ooey gooey Slime.

Chemistry

The magic of Chemistry is examined in this booth. Children will make a very cool Crystal Garden to take home.

Electricity

Electricity is the topic. Current electricity. Children will copper plate their own nickels with current electricity.

Air

Ever wonder how an airplane or rocket flies? Using the Bernoulli principal our guests will begin to understand the power of air and make and take home a football air plain.

Optical Illusions

At this Mad Science booth our visitors will get discover Optical Illusions and how the work. With many different hands-on experiments they will observe strange hidden 3D images, transparent floating object and more. The children will take home dragon illusion that they can make at home.

Magnets

North poles, south poles can be found on magnets and even the biggest magnet on Earth…the Earth itself. With our hands-on magnets booth we’ll offer many different and fun ways to explore magnetism. The children will walk away with a better understanding of magnets and how they work as well as a floating magnet kit they can keep.
