Summer Camp FAQ

Summer Camp FAQ

Program Information

What types of programs do you offer?

Mad Science offers interactive programs to children who are ready to learn! Campers will be engaged in exciting activities and spectacular demonstrations designed to capture their attention and imagination. Each day, campers will receive a take home project and summary sheet to reinforce what they learned in our program.  Our projects and summary sheets demonstrate accomplishments, encourage further exploration, and allow parents to become a part of their child's Mad Science experience. To learn more about the variety of topics we offer, please click here.

Which ages benefit most from your camp programs?

Most of our camps are designed for children who are entering 1st grade through children who have just completed 5th grade.  Some camps may have been assigned a minimum and maximum age, according to subject content, program offerings, or requirements by our camp partners. For any camps with a varied age range, the instructor will set the children up in age appropriate groups to ensure maximum enjoyment.

Who are the Mad Science camp instructors?

Our instructors love children and science! All of our staff members have experience guiding groups of children into learning experiences. Instructors are vigorously trained for the experiments they will be conducting, as well as educated and experienced on how to handle the materials safely. Most importantly, Mad Science conducts background checks on all instructors prior to being assigned to our programs. Regardless of their background, Mad Science will always provide one qualified instructor for every 20 students.

Registration Information

Where can my child enjoy Mad Science this summer?

You can search our locations by clicking here We add new locations to our website on a regular basis, so check back often or sign up for our camp newsletter here. If you don’t see a particular location listed, give a call to suggest a location! We’re always looking for new places to offer our summer camp programs.

How do I register my child for a camp?

To determine how to register, please click here  and click on the program, date and location you are interested in attending.

If Mad Science is hosting registration, you may register through our secure website. Mad Science accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.

If one our partner organization is hosting registration, you will have to contact them directly for additional information on how to Register by phone or via the Internet.

Should I sign my child up for more than one camp?

Yes, we encourage it! Some parents wait to register their child until he/she has already taken one week of Mad Science, but parents can only register their children for camps that have spots available. We are not able to increase the maximum number of children in a camp program, so if your child loves science, we encourage you to register when spots are still available!

How soon do I need to register my child for camp?

We recommend you register as soon as possible! Spaces are limited and space availability frequently depends on timely registrations.  We can also typically accept Registration up until the Camp begins as long as there is space available for the location.

What is your refund policy?

For registration taken through the Mad Science website, cancellation communicated more than 10 days prior to the first day of the camp are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations communicated with less than 10 days before the start of the camp are eligible for a full refund, minus a $50 service charge. Since most organizations charge Mad Science a facility usage fee.

Does Mad Science have a minimum enrollment requirement?

What should my child bring/wear to camp?

Mad Science provides all equipment and materials for our in-camp experiments and take-home projects. Please dress your child in play clothes with close-toed shoes, and hat and or/sunglasses (if preferred) labeled with child’s name. Also, you may apply sunscreen and/or insect repellent prior to dropping your child off.

If you would like to send a snack or lunch with your child, please pack one snack per day, labeled with your child’s name. We cannot guarantee that coolers or refrigeration services will be available for snacks, so please send non-perishable snacks only. Also, please avoid foods containing peanuts, due to allergies.

My child has attended a Mad Science summer camp before. If I sign up my child for the same camp, will his/her experience be the same?

We offer many different topics through a variety of our camp partners. We do vary the topics we offer from year to year, but we sometimes repeat our most popular camp topics. Children who participate in the same topic as a previous year will be able to experience our camp with a new Mad Scientist, adding to the fun and excitement!

What medical information about my child is required for your camp programs?

Prior to the first day of camp, Mad Science requires particular information from you regarding your child’s medical needs. It is essential to receive this information from parents so our camp instructor is aware of any specific considerations needed for individual children.

Mad Science is dedicated to securing safe facilities and equipment for our camps. Our instructors are highly trained and will take every precaution to keep your children out of harm’s way.

Regardless of the safety precautions taken, all activities involve some level of risk, and by registering for a Mad Science camp, parents assume that there is some level of risk involved. Mad Science instructors will be taking all necessary preventative measures, but are not trained in provision or medical services of any kind.

By enrolling your child in a Mad Science camp, you agree not to hold Mad Science Group, its Franchisees, Agents, Representatives, Facilities, Employee, Managers, Contactors, and/or Instructors liable for any medical emergencies or conditions your child may experience, directly or indirectly related to our camp.
