Our Half-Day Camp Themes
Our LEGO™ BRIXOLOGY camp was developed in partnership with LEGO™ Master Builders! Team up to build exclusive creations that will test their engineering abilities! Build carnival rides, drawing machines, mechanical animals, truss bridges and space stations. Try your hand at aerospace, nautical, biomechanical, and even structural engineering! Let the tinkering begin!
Eureka: Launching with Legends
Anyone can be an inventor! Discover the work of da Vinci, Edison, Tesla, and Benjamin Franklin and use what you learn to invent solutions to everyday problems. You’ll prepare patent proposals, receive a patent certificate, build your own catapult, and even launch projectiles off a large trebuchet! You’ll bring home countless cool inventions!
Eureka: Take Flight to the Future
Bring your imagination & let it SOAR as you create a squadron of paper airplanes the Wright brothers would be proud of! Explore technological advances in flight: hot air balloons, flying machines, stomp rockets, & spacecraft. Become inspired by Verne and Asimov! All campers will build and take home their own sci-fi inspired light sabers!
Junior Physicians Academy
Explore all of the cells, organs, muscles, and bones that make up YOU! Put yourself together from the inside out, while learning about all the systems that make your body tick! Get microscopic while making a model cell, create a stethoscope to hear your heartbeat, and inflate model lungs that work just like yours! Get a little sticky while making “Mad Mucus” and a mashed potato brain!
Mad Machines & Jr. Engineers
Whether you enjoy building or destroying structures, you’ll love this camp! Work with pulleys, wedges, screws, and levers, build your own catapults and play robot soccer! Exercise your ability to work with others while constructing a geodesic dome big enough for all campers to fit inside! Let the engineering excitement begin!
Mad Machines & Rockin' Rockets
Spring into a medley of scientific subjects and learn about the Earth and its animal inhabitants, simple machines, rocketry, flight, and chemical reactions; there’s something for everyone! Build and race a car, construct a rocket, create animal tracks, build a bug house, and grow your very own crystal gardens to take home! There’s so much in store; it’s simply Sensational!
Discover the world of coding! All digital games, apps, computers, websites, and machines need programs to run; learn to code like real programmers do! Join in a scavenger hunt, solve puzzles, play tag, unravel the secrets of the Hanoi Tower, and learn coding skills in our online gaming environment. Collaborate with fellow Mad Scientists, identify problems, test solutions, & debug your programs.
NASA Journey into Outer Space
Take a voyage of discovery into the atmosphere and beyond as we explore planets, moons, and other space phenomena. Build your own Mad Science rocket and participate in a real NASA style rocket launch! Create a kitchen comet and bring home lots of cool NASA take homes! Mad Science is the ONLY organization licensed by NASA to use these activities for Summer Camps!
Radical Reactions & Detective Science
Become a skilled science sleuth while investigating the role of chemistry at the scene of a crime! Learn about chemical reactions as you grow crystals, use dental alginate to make fabulous finger molds, create sidewalk chalk from scratch, design chromatography bandannas to take home, and even make your very own ice cream!
Red Hot Robots
Have you ever wanted to build your own robot? Here’s your chance! Explore the fundamentals of robotics and discover the circuitry and sensors robots need to maneuver. After experimenting with robots that can sense sounds, track lines, and even play soccer, you will build and complete your very own sound-sensing robot to take home!
Secret Agent Lab: Spies Like Us
Step into the shoes of a detective—uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis. Become a super sleuth and learn clever ways of performing tasks in this hands-on view of the science that spies use. From decoding messages to metal detectors and night vision, you will have the opportunity to check out spy equipment, and discover the technological tools of detection!
Secret Agent Lab: Funky Forensics
Focus on the science of forensics in this hands-on look at crime scenes. Identify and collect evidence, from fingerprints to tracks to trash! Recreate the scene of a crime using clues and detailed observations. Use science to connect the dots and help sniff out the suspects in this hands-on investigation into the science of sleuthing!
Space: Infinity & Beyond
Discover the early pioneers of space flight! Investigate the mechanics of unique flying machines while you experiment with balloon-copters, boomerangs, and mini hovercrafts. Learn about galaxies, quasars, and stars (oh my!) Use what you’ve learned to build your very own rocket to take home and end the week with a BLAST OFF!
Space: The Final Frontier
Campers will explore the mysteries of space from an astronaut’s point of view! Children will learn about how space explorers embark on a journey throughout the atmosphere and experience “a week in the life” of an astronaut as they explore space and report back to the scientists on planet Earth. Aspiring astronauts will study gravity, propulsion, and the basics of rocket science.
Super, Slimy, Smoky Science
Dive into a variety of scientific fields as you mix and stretch silly putty and slime, copperplate nickels, and investigate the mysteries of optical illusions. Become captivated by lasers, dry ice, watch hair-raising Van de Graaff experiments, help solve a mystery, and so much more! Tinker with circuits, catapults, and experience what happens when you mix science and fun!
Survival: Predators and Prey
Learn how birds and beasts catch their prey! Flow through the food chain and discover how animals and insects adapt to life on our planet. Explore how a change in the wind, water, and temperature affects all of Earth’s inhabitants. Build a wooden birdhouse to take home, learn about scent trails, build a bug house for your favorite creepy-crawly critters and make plaster animal tracks.
