Summer Library Topics

Elementary Age

Space Phenomena - Meteors and comets and asteroids, oh my!  Explore the phenomenal events that take place in the night sky!  Investigate asteroid impacts and craters on the moon, cook up a comet made of dry ice, and discover how meteors burn up in our atmosphere.

Rocket Travel - A hands-on engineering design challenge lets the children take on the role of NASA engineers as they try to solve a problem from an Apollo moon mission.  Children learn about the propulsion systems employed for space travel. The children will participate in inquiry-based discussions and multiple hands-on experiments designed to introduce children to the concepts of propulsion, thrust, action/reaction, aerodynamics, rocket construction, the stages of rocket flight, and more!  If the skies are clear, we’ll even launch a rocket!

Preschool Age

Stellar Space - Your preschoolers will discover the wonders of space in this exciting and interactive class. We'll learn about, and see beautiful photos of our planet Earth, the sun and moon, and all the planets in our Solar System.  We'll even take a pretend trip to the moon where we'll collect moon rocks and take a moon walk just like real astronauts!
